Founder & CEO of Venture Harbour
Born and raised in Oxford, UK, Marcus Taylor built his first website at age 10 after being introduced to HTML by his father Ian.
By age 19, Marcus was consulting to well-known brands like Vistaprint, Miele, Tetley, and London Business School on their digital marketing strategies. After being offered equity and an executive position in one of Oxford’s leading digital marketing agencies at age 21 (despite having zero academic qualifications), Marcus made the bold decision to turn down the opportunity and start his own company, Venture Harbour, instead.
In the beginning, Venture Harbour was just a collection of hobby websites Marcus had built in the evenings. “I started Venture Harbour with about £500 in the bank and a beat-up laptop in a cafe on George St, Oxford. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I knew I’d figure it out.”
And so he made it his mission to build a collection of platforms, tools, and products that would help millions of entrepreneurs and marketers in every country on the planet grow their organisations faster, despite the odds. Today, Marcus leads a team of world-class engineers, designers, and marketers who have built nine high-growth ventures collectively reaching 3.9 million people in 195 countries.
“Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs and marketers to grow their organisations faster, by introducing them to tools and ideas that generate real results. Our goal? To positively bend the growth curve of ten million businesses by 2022.”
Marcus has been named a ‘Rising Star’ by The Guardian, and has won numerous entrepreneurship awards, including ‘Visionary of the Year’ at MIDEM in Cannes, France, and Young Professional of the Year at the UK Search Awards. Marcus was also awarded a grant from The Awesome Foundation for developing the World’s first scientifically-valid tool for measuring a person’s comfort zones.
